Safety

For enhanced safety, the front and middle seat shoulder belts of the Jeep Grand Cherokee L are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Bentley Bentayga has only front height-adjustable seat belts.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Bentayga doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Grand Cherokee L has standard ParkSense Rear Park Assist with Stop that uses rear sensors to monitor for objects to the rear and automatically applies the brakes to prevent a collision. The Bentayga doesn’t offer automatic braking for stationary objects directly to the rear.

The Grand Cherokee L’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the Bentayga.

The Grand Cherokee L Summit’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The Bentayga doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Grand Cherokee L and the Bentayga have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive, night vision systems and around view monitors.

Warranty

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Grand Cherokee L 2 years longer than Bentley covers the Bentayga. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Bentayga ends after only 3 years.

The Grand Cherokee L’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Bentayga’s (5 vs. 3 years).

There are almost 50 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Bentley dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Grand Cherokee L’s warranty.

Fuel Economy and Range

On the EPA test cycle the Grand Cherokee L gets better mileage than the Bentayga running its gasoline engine:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Jeep Grand Cherokee L uses regular unleaded gasoline. The Bentayga requires premium, which can cost on average about 84.9 cents more per gallon.

The Grand Cherokee L has 3.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the Bentayga Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (23 vs. 19.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Grand Cherokee L has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Bentayga doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

Environmental Friendliness

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Jeep Grand Cherokee L higher (6 out of 10) than the Bentley Bentayga (2). This means the Grand Cherokee L produces up to 27.7 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Bentayga every 15,000 miles.

Brakes and Stopping

The Grand Cherokee L stops shorter than the Bentayga:

Tires and Wheels

The Grand Cherokee L has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Bentayga doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

The Grand Cherokee L offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Bentayga; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which has mileage and speed limitations, or roadside assistance and a tow-truck.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Grand Cherokee L’s wheelbase is 3.8 inches longer than on the Bentayga (121.7 inches vs. 117.9 inches).

The Grand Cherokee L’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Bentayga’s (56% to 44%). This gives the Grand Cherokee L more stable handling and braking.

The Grand Cherokee L Limited 4x4 handles at .82 G’s, while the Bentayga pulls only .78 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For greater off-road capability the Grand Cherokee L Overland/Summit has a 1.2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the Bentayga (10.9 vs. 9.7 inches), allowing the Grand Cherokee L to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

Chassis

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 750 to 800 pounds less than the Bentley Bentayga.

The front grille of the Grand Cherokee L uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Bentayga doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Grand Cherokee L Altitude/Limited/Summit uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Bentayga doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

Passenger Space

The Grand Cherokee L offers optional seating for 7 passengers; the Bentayga can only carry 5.

The Grand Cherokee L has 50.1 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Bentayga (159.1 vs. 109).

Cargo Capacity

The Grand Cherokee L’s cargo area provides more volume than the Bentayga.

The Grand Cherokee L’s available rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Bentayga w/Four Seat Comfort Specification doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

Towing

The Grand Cherokee L Summit can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the Grand Cherokee L can be unhitched and driven around locally. The Bentayga can’t be towed flat on the ground.

Trailer Sway Control is standard on all models of the Grand Cherokee L, using the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The Bentayga Hybrid doesn’t offer a trailer sway program.

Ergonomics

The Grand Cherokee L’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The Bentayga does not have an oil pressure gauge.

On a hot day the Grand Cherokee L’s driver can lower all the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Bentayga can’t use the remote to operate the windows.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Grand Cherokee L has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Bentayga only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee L stands out above the Bentley Bentayga by offering not one, but two Qi-compatible phone chargers in the front seat. This convenience helps travelers with multiple devices to keep powered up on-the-go. Wireless charging eliminates lost or cluttered charging cables and one of them provide more flexibility.

The Grand Cherokee L Laredo X/Altitude/Limited/Summit has a 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The Bentayga doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

Model Availability

The Grand Cherokee L is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Bentayga doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.

Economic Advantages

According to iSeeCars.com the 2026 Jeep Grand Cherokee L retains 53.18% of its original value after 5 years, more than the 52.15% resale value of the 2026 Bentley Bentayga after five years, which can save the Jeep’s owner up to $79287 in depreciation.

Recommendations

The Jeep Grand Cherokee outsold the Bentley Bentayga by over 240 to one during 2025.
